A young woman died after being trapped inside a burning residence in the US state of Wisconsin on her wedding day.
According to the Minute News, Paige Ruddy, 19, was sleeping on the 2nd floor of a house in Reedsburg, when flames broke out through the building on Tuesday. The tragedy happened at dawn, around 4:00 am.
The house did not have a fire alarm system, so by the time Ruddy realized what was happening he was unable to escape. The young woman lived in the house with her fiancé and her grandparents, and it is unknown whether they were home at the time of the incident.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they broke the second story window to reach the young woman, who would eventually die a day later in the hospital of a brain hemorrhage caused by smoke inhalation.
According to her family, Paige had exchanged her marriage vows with Logan Mitchell-Carter, the love of her life, on Monday in a private civil ceremony. The couple would, the following day, walk down the aisle in front of friends and family.
The police have assured us that they are already investigating the causes of the fire, but are ruling out the possibility that it was planned.
