Temane-Maputo line goes through reliability test and starts running next month

Linha Temane-Maputo vai a teste de fiabilidade e começa a ser testada a partir do próximo mês

Reliability tests will begin next month on the equipment installed in the three substations under construction in the country as part of the Temane-Maputo electricity transmission line project.

According to the newspaper NewsIn total, the infrastructure comprises four substations, three of which are completely new and one, in Maputo, which is an extension of an old one that is in operation.

These are the substations being set up in Pambara, in the Vilankulo district of Inhambane province; Chibuto in Gaza; and Matalana in the Marracuene district of Maputo. In almost all of the three new substations, the work is 93% complete, so the conditions are practically in place for testing to begin in May, lasting at least two months.

According to Adriano Jonas, director of the Temane-Maputo Transmission Line Construction Project, the 400 KV infrastructure, about 563 kilometers long, will evacuate the power that will be generated at the Thermoelectric Power Plant, based on natural gas extracted from the Pande and Temane deposits in Inhambane by the South African multinational Sasol.
