PGR suspects there are deputies who know drug lords

PGR suspeita de existência de deputados que conhecem os barões de drogas

The Attorney General of the Republic, Beatriz Buchili, suspects that there are deputies in the Assembly of the Republic who know the identity of the main drug traffickers, and is therefore calling for them to be denounced.

"In your speeches, some distinguished MPs have hinted that they know the principals, some of whom are white collar," he said.

She regrets the fact that the people's representatives have knowledge of individuals in the midst of tansnational organized crime and do not report them to the authorities, even more so "because they have a legal duty to do so, and they know the mechanisms in place to do so".

"So I encourage you to make your complaints," he said, during the session to answer the question about the PGR's annual report.

On the other hand, she explained that the lack of responses to extradition requests made to South Africa by Mozambique should not be a reason to discredit the work of national institutions. This could be due to issues of a conventional nature or some kind of reservation on the part of one of the parties, according to the prosecutor.
