Venâncio Mondlane thanked for stepping down from the Municipal Assembly

Venâncio Mondlane agradece pelo afastamento da Assembleia Municipal

Renamo's deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, Venâncio Mondlane, believes that his loss of mandate in the Maputo Municipal Assembly is deserved because the incumbent took office fraudulently.

He said today in Maputo that there was unequivocal proof that, for the first time, the opposition had won the Maputo municipality to govern.

"When I ran for office, it was to govern the city of Maputo... and we won. That's why I saw that there were no moral or ethical conditions for me to take office in an assembly that all the people can see is a fraud. Losing a mandate for being in an assembly that is fraudulent is, I think, even meritorious," he said.

He said he has nothing to fear and more comments to make because he doesn't belong to a body born out of the theft of popular will and the "gangsterization of electoral bodies".

"Anyway, I don't want to be part of an assembly that identifies itself by the electoral terrorism of the will of the Mozambican people. I am very reassured by the fact that the Municipal Assembly has definitely made my resignation known in public," he thanked.
