Azgo Festival kicks off today, two years after covid-19

Arranca hoje o festival Azgo dois anos após covid-19

From today until Sunday, the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center (CCFM) will host the Azgo international festival, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 10th edition of the event, held under the slogan Afrofuturism, brings together national and international artists, including Stewart Sukuma, Elvira Viegas, Gina Pepa, Yaba Buluku Boys, Hélio Beatz, Mark Exodus, Eduardo Paim, Thobile Makhoyane, among others.

The shows are to be held at the University Campus of Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) and at Campinho da Mafalala, and Paulo Chibanga, the festival's founder, believes that the event has grown in terms of organization.

"Azgo is 'on the right track' as far as partnerships are concerned, but especially as far as the artists are concerned," said the founder.

Chibanga, justifying the motto chosen for this edition, said that there was a need to create a futuristic narrative in order to build a new image of the country and allow Africa, Mozambique and music to be celebrated.
