Government now has a new platform for registering suppliers of goods and services

Governo já conta com nova Plataforma para o Cadastro de Fornecedores de Bens e Serviços

The Mozambican government, through the National Directorate of State Assets, launched a new Platform for the Registration of Suppliers of Goods and Services to the State in Maputo on Thursday (25). This initiative aims to combat influence peddling, clientelism, undue intervention by business agents and other illegal practices in the country.

On the occasion, Roberto Mavume, President of the Information and Communication Technologies Department at the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce (CCM), explained that it is a mechanism created to ensure the provision of services and goods to the state, and that the national private sector has been the main player in this process.

According to the source, a properly structured and managed database could help to promote ethics and transparency, as the foundations for the moralization of the business class, combating practices of influence peddling, clientelism, undue intervention by fictitious business agents, thus contributing to the ongoing promotion of a favourable business environment.

"The registration of companies on the platform is essential both for transparency processes, good administration and equal access to public procurement opportunities, and the biggest benefit for entrepreneurs is that they can have immediate access, wherever they are, to issue their documents and update them in record time, without forming long queues," said Mavume, quoted by the newspaper AIMHe added that one of the advantages of the new platform is that it allows entrepreneurs, regardless of their location, to register their company more digitally.

However, Mavume assured that the CCM will provide all the collaboration required to ensure greater inclusion and accessibility for its members and others to this platform, which is of unquestionable importance for business action.
