Mozambique promises to submit by June 30 the list of products to the African Free Trade Area

Moçambique promete submeter até 30 Junho a lista de produtos à Zona de Comércio Livre Africana

Mozambique will deliver the list of products and services it will exempt from customs duties by June 30, as part of the process of joining the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Silvino Moreno, "the work has already been completed and we will be submitting our tariff offer to the AfCFTA Secretariat by June 30".

Silvino Moreno, quoted today by Jornal Notícias, said that Mozambique had already deposited the agreement ratified by the Assembly of the Republic with the African Union secretariat, "what was missing was the tariff offer".

The source pointed out that the document to be delivered to the continental organization lists the prices of the products and services that the country will place on the market and exempt from customs duties, under the aforementioned treaty.

"We have enormous agricultural potential. We can supply cashew nuts, cotton, shrimp and other products that are currently destined for Europe," said the Minister of Industry and Trade.

According to the government, once the instrument has been deposited, the agreement will be publicized to the national private sector so that it can take advantage of the treaty.
