World Bank announces 150 million to improve urban transport in Maputo

Banco Mundial anuncia 150 milhões para melhorar o transporte urbano em Maputo

The World Bank will finance with 150 million dollars, the project to improve the urban transport system in the Municipality of Maputo.

According to the National Director of Logistics and Private Sector Development at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the negotiation process for this funding should be completed by June of next year.

Ambrósio Sitoe, noted that, in a first phase, the improvement works of the urban transport system, in the country's capital, will contemplate the low-Xiquelene-Magoanine corridor.

Ambrósio Sitoe also said that the acquisition of ninety carriages in India is underway, aiming to boost the railway transport of people and goods, in the greater Maputo area, especially in the Baixa-Matola Gare corridor.
