ANE moves ahead with Machava Node requalification after semi-collective hauliers strike

ANE avança com a requalificação do Nó da Machava após a greve dos transportadores semi-colectivos

The National Roads Administration (ANE) announced the start, today, Saturday (11), of the emergency upgrading work on Eduardo Mondlane Avenue, in Machava, in the municipality of Matola.

The measure comes after the semi-collective passenger carriers on the Machava-Socimol, Liberdade, Patrice and T3 routes halted their activities on May 2, in protest at the high level of degradation of the road.

According to engineer Rubina Normahomed, ANE's provincial delegate in Maputo province, the "emergency works will last two days, where 300 meters of the stretch between Machava Junction and Avenida das Indústrias will be upgraded".

The ANE official also explained that during the works trucks will have an alternative route to the National Road Number 4 (N4), following the N1 and entering the Jardim neighborhood.

"As for light vehicles, they will face some restrictions this weekend and can take two alternative routes, namely the entrance via Frigo and Nó da Machava, near TRACK to get off at Avenida das Indústrias, the Ifresh supermarket, Tecnel, BMG and Tio Peixe," she concluded, quoted by the newspaper Notícias.
