Influential people block Mozambican entrepreneurs in the gas business

Pessoas influentes bloqueiam empresários moçambicanos no negócio do gás

People connected to power in Mozambique are hindering the access of Mozambican entrepreneurs to the various business opportunities provided by the floating platform for exploration of liquefied natural gas in the province of Cabo Delgado, according to the Director of the Center for Democracy and Development-CDD.

Adriano Nuvunga said that large international companies also take advantage of the anarchy in the country regarding management to engage the local business community and young people who must be trained to develop their jobs.

"Right now, you have not been seeing seriousness, on the part of the Government, with regard to the approval of the Local Content Law," said the CDD Director, quoted by VOA.

And with the arrival of the floating platform, the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Mozambique came to demand the Government's approval of the Local Content Law, considering that, without this law, the platform will not serve the Mozambicans' desires.

"We demand the approval of the Local Content Law, which defines the participation of at least ten percent in activities of this project, through the provision of services, and this would already be a salvation for many small and medium Mozambican companies," said Feito Tudo Male, from that association.
