Mozambique-US Partnership Can Create Franchise Market

Parceria Moçambique-EUA pode criar Mercado de Franquias

The Trade Agency of the Embassy of the United States of America (USA), in partnership with the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCM) gathered in a seminar, recently, in Maputo, 45 businessmen from both countries who discussed the possibility of creating a Franchise Market, as part of the preparation for the 30th International Franchise Exposition, to be held in June in New York City.

The Franchise Market is one way for CCM to help national entrepreneurs access international markets more easily, according to the organization's president, Álvaro Massingue.

He referred that Mozambique can "invade" the international space through gastronomy and cultural expressions, being these only two of the countless categories of the competitive potential to conquer the international market.

"In this Webinar I encourage you to identify the best that we have to offer to the world and conquer the Mozambique and USA market, because the world franchise market requires daring, spreading the word, investing, and conquering the market," he stressed.

For her part, the chargé d'affaires of the US embassy in Mozambique, Abgail Dressel, said that the private sector is a valuable partner for economic development, so her country continues to support hundreds of exporters to access the American market.

The US embassy explained that the turnkey franchise initiative aims to diversify Mozambique's economic base, promote entrepreneurship and successful businesses globally, and also bring prosperity to entrepreneurs affected by the covid-19 pandemic.

According to the International Franchise Association, the United States has the most consolidated franchise market in the world, creating about 9.1 million direct jobs and contributing 3% to the annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
