Los Angeles County will have to pay Kobe Bryant's family $28.85 million as part of its lawsuit against the officers and firefighters who arrived on the scene and shared photos of the January 2020 helicopter crash that killed the former basketball player, his daughter Gianna, and seven other people.
"Today marks the successful end of Ms. Bryant's valiant battle to hold accountable those who engaged in this grotesque conduct. She fought for her husband, her daughter and all those in the community whose deceased family was treated with similar disrespect," said Luis Li, Vanessa Bryant's lawyer, in a statement, quoted by the portal ?Mai Football?
Mira Hashmall, meanwhile, the attorney who represented Los Angeles County, told the LA Times that the settlement was "fair and reasonable."
Recall that Vanessa Bryant had sued the county after police officers and members of the fire department made copies and shared images of the accident outside the scope of the investigation. The pictures were even shared in a bar.
