AT announces resumption of audits and inspections of private companies

The process of auditing and inspecting private companies by the Tax Authority (AT) will soon be resumed, after having been suspended at the end of last year.

The information was released today, Thursday (28), by the AT, in Maputo, during the launch of the 2024 - 2025 Cycle of Audits and Inspections at the National Meeting of Tax and Customs Audits and Inspections.

According to the newspaper SundayThe process is expected to run until December of this year and consists of gathering and evaluating evidence on matters associated with tax acts in order to safeguard the state's fiscal interests and protect the public treasury.

In November last year, the president of the AT, Amélia Muendane, ordered, without giving many details, the interruption of all inspection, surveillance and auditing activities throughout the country, "until further notice".

Meanwhile, the Tax Authority revealed today that it had recovered a total of 1.1 billion meticais as part of the audits and inspections carried out throughout the country last year, compared to 1.2 billion recovered in 2022.
