The first independent president of Mozambique, Samora Machel, is one of the founders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to be honored at the organization's ordinary summit, to be held this Wednesday in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The information about the homage to the founding leaders of SADC, was made public this evening in Kinshasa, by the Mozambican deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves, after participating in the meeting of the Mozambican delegation to the SADC Summit, led by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.

"SADC decided that it should honor those who founded the Organization, in our case Mozambique, is on the list, President Samora Machel who was one of the founders," said Manuel Gonçalves, quoted by Radio Mozambique.

At the troika summit of the SADC organ, President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to present the more detailed report on the provisional extension of the mandate of the SADC military mission, which supports the fight against terrorism in Cabo delgado province, made possible by the last summit of the organ's Heads of State and Government, held last July.
