Water supply restored to the city of Quelimane

Restabelecido o abastecimento de água à cidade de Quelimane

The normal supply of water to the city of Quelimane, Zambezia province, began on Wednesday night, March 22, as planned by the management of Águas da Região do Centro, SA (AdRC).

Since Saturday, March 18, the city's inhabitants have been deprived of this liquid in their taps, as a result of a breakdown in the water transport line from the Nicodala Borehole Field to the Quelimane Distribution Center, caused by the heavy and intense rainfall caused by Cyclone "Freddy".

The chairman of AdRC's Board of Directors, João Amiel, explained that, to this end, it was necessary to "lay a new pipe over the River Nevide, in Nicaduala, so that the restoration could be carried out on schedule.

At the moment, the restoration is taking place gradually, covering all the city's neighborhoods covered by the AdRC system, with a total of more than 26,000 customers."

During the period of restrictions, water consumers were being supplied from alternative sources, with a greater incidence in health units, prison services, among others.
