Biometric registration of mobile phone SIM cards will begin on June 16 pthe whole country, by presenting an identity card, a passport photo and a fingerprint, the regulatory authorities said.
The measure is part of the new regulation on telecommunications services and covers, in addition to mobile telephone services, fixed telephone services, internet and television.
The information was shared this Tuesday in Maputo by the spokesperson for the National Telecommunications Institute of Mozambique (INCM), Adilson Gomes.

The new regulation obliges agents who are going to register subscribers biometrically to also identify themselves in the process.
INCM data indicates that 20,000 cases of fraud associated with E-Mola, M-pesa and M-Kesh platforms are reported every month.
