Prime Minister wants quality in the work of accountants and auditors

Primeiro-Ministro quer qualidade no trabalho de contabilistas e auditores

The Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, appealed, this Wednesday, to accountants and auditors to tariff and improve the quality of employees and services.

"We challenge the participants to reflect and bring proposals that can contribute to raising the quality standards of the class of auditors and accountants at the level of our continent," he said.

The Ruler challenged class officials during the Sixth African Accounting Congress, which runs Wednesday through Friday.

Despite this, Carlos Agostinho recognizes that accountants and auditors are qualified to guarantee transparency and reliability in the financial management processes in the country and in the African continent.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister listed some Government activities where the auditors' actions have been relevant, namely in the supervision of the public treasury; collection of revenues that feed the public treasury; improvement of the business environment; and fighting corruption.

"We believe that this congress will serve as a privileged platform for debate and reflection on how to capitalize on information and communication technologies to accelerate the modernization of management systems and service delivery in the public and private sector," he said, warning that those targeted must keep up to date, as the market tends to change at a rapid pace.

For the specific case of Mozambique, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário said that accountants and auditors have a significant contribution in reducing tax evasion and in the continuous improvement of public finance management.

For his part, the President of the Order of Accountants and Auditors of Mozambique (OCAM), Mário Sitoe, said that the digital transformation is not only of interest to his class, but also to different professionals and social contexts.

"The discussion suggests that the assessment around the fourth revolution goes beyond technological change. It promotes cultivating the opportunities of the online marketplace and the virtual office widely adopted during the critical moments of the covid-19 pandemic," said Sitoe.
