President of the Republic inaugurates "heavy sands" of Chibuto in Gaza

Presidente da República inaugura “areias de pesadas” de Chibuto em Gaza

Yesterday, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, inaugurated two processing units for the Chibuto Heavy Sands, in Gaza, at the DingSheng mine, which covers more than 10,000 hectares..

The project has the capacity to process around 10,000 tons a year. So far, the only market that receives the final processed product from Mozambique is China.

The area concessioned to the company DingSheng Minerals, which exploits the heavy sands of Chibuto, has more than two million tons of raw material.

The President of the Republic said in his speech at the inauguration of the project that during the research period more than 3,000 workers were employed, including nationals and foreigners, and currently 500 are working, of which only 30 are foreign specialists.

Filipe Nyusi recalled that several companies had passed through Chibuto claiming that the resources there had no commercial value, an understanding that changed with the arrival of DingSheng Minerals.

"It's been proven that the sands here are among the best in the world," said the head of state.

The Chibuto heavy sands project foresees the establishment of eight more processing units, bringing the total to ten.

Meanwhile, Nyusi encouraged national entrepreneurs to create and consolidate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the district of Chibuto, in order to connect the district with greater Maputo and other provinces in the country. "This group of companies has opportunities to build small hotels and other services that will facilitate the mobility of people and goods," he said.
