The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is today in Quelimane, Zambezia, delivering 30,000 kits of agricultural inputs to 30,000 families, as part of the Sustenta emergency program.

The event will be attended by three thousand producers, representing the thirty thousand that will benefit from the inputs.

The spokesman for the Zambezia Provincial Farmers Union says that the offer comes at a good time, since there is still moisture in the fields, which allows to relaunch the agrarian campaign, through the second season.

Preliminary data from the Agriculture sector in Zambezia indicate that the effects of tropical cyclone Freddy affected three hundred and twenty-five thousand hectares, of which one hundred and twenty-eight thousand hectares are completely lost.

The peasants are said to have lost crops of around 1,300,000,000 tons of various products.

The spokesperson for the Zambezia Provincial Farmers Union, Rosário Francisco, says that for southern Zambezia, where damage from the cyclone was quite severe, the priority will be for tuber beans and vegetables(RM)
