On February 14, the Frelimo party will hold an Extraordinary Session of the Central Committee at the party school in the city of Matola.

A statement from the political grouping indicates that the meeting will have three agenda items, including the selection of new top members.

On that date, party members will elect their new president; the Secretary General (SG); and members of the central committee secretariat.

Currently, the former President of the Republic (PR), Filipe Nyusi, is the president of Frelimo, and the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, is the party's SG.

By internal rule, the party member elected PR is consequently elected party president.
