Niassa: Around 20,000 families will have electricity by the end of the year

Niassa: Cerca de 20 mil famílias terão energia eléctrica até finais do ano

Around 20,000 families in the districts of Chimbonila, Sanga, Majune, Muembe, Mavago, Lago, Ngaúma and Lichinga, in Niassa province, will benefit from electricity from the National Grid by the end of this year.

To this end, Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) will inject 60 million meticais through treasury funds, according to Rádio Moçambique.

Quoted by the same broadcaster, the director of Electricidade de Moçambique, Lichinga Customer Service Area, Héctor Matimele, explained that part of this amount will also be allocated to maintenance work on the lines, which are in a state of disrepair.

The source said that EDM also has other investments that have more or less to do with the activities that "we are going to electrify, in some communities, but with a slightly higher demand," he said.
