Mozambique wants to strengthen cooperation with China against the Covid-19 pandemic to promote local economic recoveryThe Chinese Embassy in Maputo said.

The Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Ernesto Tonela, called for greater bilateral cooperation at a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique, Wang Hejun, on Monday.

Armindo Tiago praised the Chinese contribution to the global vaccination program that has helped African countries, including Mozambique, get covid-19 vaccines.

China has helped Mozambique to relaunch bilateral projects that had been suspended at the beginning of the pandemic, noted Ernesto Tonela, who called for greater cooperation in the area of mineral resources and energy.

Wang Hejun promised to strengthen Sino-Mozambican cooperation against covid-19, including by helping Mozambique obtain more doses of Chinese-produced vaccines, the embassy said in a statement Tuesday.
