Mozambique wants more companies to increase its network of scheduled flights

Moçambique quer mais companhias para aumentar rede de voos regulares

The Government intends to admit new airlines to operate in the national space, and, at this moment, the proposals of some foreign companies that have shown interest are under analysis.

According to the portal "News Avia", the news was revealed a few days ago by the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, during his meeting with businessmen from Nacala, as part of his working visit to the province of Nampula.

At the time, Maleiane said that the process of admitting new foreign airlines had already advanced, but the covid-19 pandemic ultimately thwarted the initiative.

"The policy was launched at a difficult time. Right after that we had covid-19, which forced companies around the world to paralyze activities. Even domestic flights had difficulties," added Maputo's head of government.

The country's openness to the reduction of cases caused by the new coronavirus offers positive prospects for the resumption of business profile assessment. The authorities are convinced that the business environment will improve.

Adriano Maleiane pronounced himself in these terms "in response to the concern of businessmen, regarding the low flow of national and international flights at Nacala airport", according to the Notícias newspaper, in its printed edition.
