The Mozambican government is looking for new partnerships to increase investment and boost the country's energy sector.

In fact, the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, is taking part, on behalf of the Head of State, Filipe Nyusi, in the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum, which is being held today and tomorrow in Bali, the capital of the Asian country.

According to a NewsAt the session of leaders and heads of state, the government official is expected to present the country's energy potential as well as other sectors in which Mozambique is looking for partnerships to invest.

A total of eight African heads of state and eleven ministers have confirmed their attendance. During the forum, the head of the Mineral Resources and Energy portfolio will take part in a high-level panel on energy, the aim of which is to address the effective implementation of energy diversification.

He is also expected to lead the first meeting of the Mozambique-Indonesia Working Group, set up by the heads of state of the two countries when they met in Mozambique in November 2023.

The aim of this meeting is to identify business and investment opportunities and to improve the sharing of experiences between the two countries.

Speaking to journalists, Carlos Zacarias assured that Mozambique's participation in the forum is also aimed at strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation.

"We hope to find concrete areas. As you may know, Indonesia is investing in the national energy sector through Buzi Hydrocarbons, in partnership with the National Hydrocarbons Company, as operator of the Búzi block in Sofala. After confirming the discovery of gas in the Búzi area, Buzi Hydrocarbons moved on to the implementation phase of the two-year appraisal program," he said.

It should be noted that the working group set up between the two countries has 11 areas of interest and four are being developed initially.

Indonesia is interested in the areas of mineral resources and energy, specifically mineral processing, health (setting up a drug factory), sea and fisheries (aquaculture) and transport and communications.

The forum is expected to reach several agreements with African countries and companies worth more than 3.5 billion dollars.
