Mozambique and China strengthen cooperation with the involvement of the business sector

Moçambique e China fortalecem cooperação com envolvimento do sector empresarial

Mozambique and China agreed to continue to focus on cooperation in the areas of agriculture, agro-processing, industry, transport, energy, education, culture and tourism, among others.

In order to boost bilateral cooperation in these and other areas, the parties agreed to continue to increase the involvement of the two countries' business sectors, within the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the Sino-African and Macau Forums, among other cooperation platforms.

The commitment was made this Monday (15) in Maputo, during an audience that the Mozambican Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, granted to the Vice-Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, Li Ming Xiang, who was on an official visit to the country.

According to a statement from the prime minister's office, quoted by AIMHe said that the visit by China's vice-minister was part of the process of deepening the relationship of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.

"During the hearing, the state of bilateral cooperation was reviewed, and the parties reaffirmed their willingness and interest in increasingly strengthening the strategic partnership focused on the political, economic and social fields for the benefit of both peoples," the statement reads.

The document states that the Chinese ruler reiterated his country's commitment to continue providing multifaceted support to Mozambique, especially to face global challenges within the framework of the strategic partnership established in 2016 by the respective heads of state, Filipe Nyusi and Xi Jiping.

The partnership framework covers bilateral actions as well as consultations in multilateral forums.
