Mozambique presented badjias as an export product in Macau

Moçambique apresentou badjias como produto de exportação em Macau

The economist and former Minister of Industry and Trade, Ragendra de Sousa, revealed, this Thursday, that a Mozambican delegation presented "badger hamburger" as a product for export, at a trade fair in Macau (China), when he held the ministerial portfolio.

Ragendra said that the country should adopt a more professional attitude so that its real capabilities in the commercial sector are recognized.

'"We have to expose the country in a more professional way, [because now] it has characteristics of amateurism. When I went to China I realized that we had taken badjia hamburger as an export product, and I only realized it there," said Ragendra de Sousa in an indignant tone during an interview with STV, because, in addition, Mozambique presented products that are customary in this type of occasion such as cashew and wood.

Asked if, as Minister, it was also his obligation to check the range of products selected for the exhibition, the economist said he was not a clairvoyant to know everything, but also because there are technicians who deal with these aspects.

"There is a board to do those studies. The people are there and they are trained to do that. There is no need for the Minister to come on television and say that. It's his job to know that badjia burger is not an export product. All the preparation has been done, but no one has said we are taking.... I'm not a witch either, and no Minister is going to be a witch, so you don't realize it until that time," he explained.

In this regard, for the former leader, it is necessary to have rigorous and professional training for the people selected to work in state institutions.

"The quality of the cadres to serve the State has to be of the highest quality, because otherwise it will be the 'one man show,' that is, it is not possible for the Minister to know and do everything," he concluded.
