This Wednesday, in the city of Chimoio, Manica, the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) arrested two foreign citizens in possession of 71 firearms of different types and calibers, magazines, bayonets, ammunition, machetes and bulletproof vests.

They are Portuguese and Zimbabwean nationals who were caught in a residence in possession of the material, according to the spokesman for the PRM Provincial Command in Manica.

According to the spokesman for the PRM in Manica, Mateus Mindú, the recovery of the weapons was the result of popular complaints, as part of the prevention of violent crime.

"It's material that was in their possession illegally. If it had been legal, the police wouldn't have seized it. If we recover the weaponry, it has to be in the hands of the Defense and Security Forces. Unfortunately, it was in someone else's hands. But thanks to the work done by the police, the material is now in our hands," the spokesman told journalists.
