More than 100 Mozambicans work on the Coral Sul project

Mais de 100 moçambicanos trabalham no projecto Coral Sul

The floating platform for the production of Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) in the Rovuma Basin employs more than 100 Mozambicans, the general manager of the project, Giorgio Vicini, said on Monday (09.05).

The development is located about 30 kilometers from the district of Palma, in Cabo Delgado province.

Giorgio Vicini, who was speaking in Maputo during the Forum on Energy Transition and Industrialization, said that the figure is a separate sign of the expression that the Mozambican government is giving to the project.

"The presence of Mozambicans is a great sign for the extension of the FLNG project, as well as for the development of the communities," he said, quoted by AIM.

The source said that the energy transition is vitally important for the development of the floating project, adding that plans can be drawn up with the support of local communities, including Mozambican and Italian companies contributing to the process.

"This is the spirit of our Enrico Mattei [an Italian revolutionary fighter] who taught us this way of operating side by side with communities a long time ago," he said.
