Two ships designed to strengthen maritime cabotage along the Mozambican coast are being inaugurated today by the President of the Republic at the port of Maputo.
The new vessels comprise a general cargo ship, 120 meters long and capable of carrying up to 9,000 tons of goods, and a container ship, around 80 meters long and capable of carrying approximately 144 TEUs (equivalent to 20 feet).
According to the statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, the floating units have been duly inspected, licensed and authorized for operation by the government, through the Maritime Transport Regulatory Authority (TRANSMAR).
"The entry into operation of these ships marks an important step in improving coastal logistics, promoting regional integration and boosting the blue economy, contributing to the sustainable and inclusive development of Mozambique," reads the Presidency statement.
