The Mozambican Women's Organization (OMM), the women's arm of the ruling Frelimo party, proclaimed Gueta Chapo president of the organization on Sunday (13), replacing Isaura Nyusi, who has been in charge for the last ten years.
The passing of the baton was led by the former president of the WMO, Isaura Nyusi, during the Fourth Extraordinary Session of the WMO National Committee, at the Frelimo Party Central School.
The main item on the agenda for the event was the election of the organization's Secretary General, to replace Mariazinha Niquice.
According to AIMIn his opening speech, Daniel Chapo, president of the Frelimo party, praised Isaura Nyusi's contribution to promoting the cohesion and unity of Mozambican women, and expressed his deep gratitude for her valuable contribution to the development of the WMO.
"We have every confidence that her teachings will continue to serve as a reference in protecting the objectives of the organization, in particular, and in framing Mozambican women in the tasks of economic, social, political and cultural development in our country," Chapo added.
For her part, Isaura Nyusi left a message of thanks for the support she has received during her ten years in office.
"These have been years of learning and strengthening our camaraderie and sisterhood. Each one of you, my comrades, has been a teacher, a mother, a sister and a friend, so I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude for the support and affection you have given me during my term," she said.
