Agricultural exports: Mozambique collects more than US$90 million

Exportação agrícola: Moçambique arrecada mais de 90 milhões de dólares

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, says that in the last two years the country has collected more than 90 million dollars (5.8 million meticais) from the export of agricultural products.

According to RM, these are food and cash crops, such as cotton fibre, cashew nuts, macadamia nuts and cowpeas, as well as the main fruits with the quality required in the agricultural marketing chain.

Nyusi said that with this volume of exports achieved in the period in question, the country is in a position to create aggregation and processing centers, with a close eye on the northern provinces.

The head of state also said that the support given to small and medium-sized businesses in the agricultural sector, affected by tropical storm Freddy, should bring results in the agricultural marketing chain.
