The idea of looking at local content centralized the "unprepared" speech of Mozambican businessman Salimo Abdula, during the launch of the "Morenergy" initiative, on Tuesday (14), in the city of Maputo.
Speaking as the Chairman of the Intelec Holdings Group, among several reminders and suggestions for Mozambique's progress, Abdula said that the country urgently needs to leave its dependence on the international community's support.
"We must not only do what the international agendas say," as we must look inward and "abandon World Bank investments," said Salimo Abdula.
In his view, such investments often lay out the paths that must be followed, which are often unfeasible for the country.
"We must build our agenda," he appealed.
In this sense, making an indirect reference to the international climate agenda to extinguish the exploitation of fossil resources for energy production, Salimo Abdula was outraged by this, predicting that countries, such as Mozambique, where such resources abound, may see their development expectations stymied if they follow the plans of others.
"The countries that suffer most from the effects of climate change have not benefited at all from the exploitation of fossil resources over time. [Therefore] we have the right to use what we have to pollute a little bit," Abdula remarked.
On that occasion, the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) launched the initiative "Mozambique Renewable Energy (Morenergy) - Conference & Expo".
The event, which is expected to be annual, aims to attract investment to the energy sector in Mozambique, mainly in the field of renewable energy. And, in this sense, the exhibition of the country's energy matrix will take place between March 22 and 24, 2022, in the city of Maputo, under the slogan "More Clean Energy for Sustainable Development".
"We consider this to be a dynamic, competitive, innovative and sustainable sector [so] we intend to make it competitive for the country," said Edelson Remane, President of ANJE's mineral resources and energy portfolio.
For his part, the newly elected president of ANJE, Lineu Candeeiro, said that the launch represents the first step towards realizing an already existing futuristic energy vision.
"It is in renewable energy where the next driving factor for development lies," and Morenergy, "is inspired by the challenges of the present for the future [not only of Mozambique], but also for the world," he said.
The launch of Morenergy was attended by the PCA of the Energy Fund (FUNAE), the Director of the Studies and Planning Division of FUNAE, the Director of Renewable Energies of Electricity of Mozambique, the Director General of Africa Energy Service, the Director of Africa Energy, among other guests.
