South African multinational SASOL has discovered yet another natural gas well in the province of Inhambane, in the south of the country, the National Petroleum Institute (INP) announced on Friday (28).

This is the exploration well identified as Bonito 1, which was drilled in Area PT5 C of the Mozambique Basin, in the southern part of the Inhassoro district, in that province.

SASOL Mozambique PT5 C (SMPT5 C) will continue its assessment of the natural gas deposit in order to determine the size of the discovery and its commercial viability.

The drilling work at Bonito 1 was carried out between March 25 and April 5 and the depth was 1,934 meters.

Write the NewsIn addition, the Bonito 1 well is the second to be drilled in that area by SMPT5 C, after the Dourado 1 well, which tested negative.

The concession contract for exploration and production in Area PT 5 C Onshore was signed on October 17, 2018, as part of the fifth tender for the Concession of Areas for Exploration and Production of Hydrocarbons. SMPT5 C holds 70% of the stake and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos holds the remaining 30%.
