Nampula province marketed more than 94,000 tons of cashew nuts during the 2024/2025 campaign, out of a target of 82,000 tons planned for marketing.
According to a Radio MozambiqueAccording to Graciano Francisco, spokesman for the Provincial Council of State Representation Services in Nampula, around 71,000 tons of this volume was exported to various international markets.
"With the marketing of chestnuts, the producers of this crop have earned more than a billion meticais," he added at the end of the meeting held on Tuesday (18).
According to the official, the same ordinary session of the body also addressed the state of play of the cashew nut processing industries in Nampula province.
In addition to the cashew nut marketing campaign, the second session of the Nampula provincial government also considered and debated the epidemiological situation in the province, with emphasis on diarrheal diseases and cholera, access routes after the passage of tropical storm Jude, as well as the reintegration of combatants and the 100-day governance plan.
