The Energy Regulatory Authority, (Arene) states in a document that MZNews had access to, that it distances itself from the practice of fuel discounts that has been seen in some segments of the fuel supply chain.
The document also states that, in the scope of its inspection and supervision powers, it has been carrying out monitoring work of the activities in the liquid fuel sub-sector in order to, among others, comply with the attributions of preventing behaviors that threaten competition and abusive practices, ensuring transparency in the commercial relations between operators according to the applicable legislation, and in the promotion of free competition in the rendering of services inherent to this activity.
According to Arena's document, signed by its president, Paulo da Graça, the Operators of the Liquid Fuels Subsector are ordered to abandon or avoid the practice of unauthorized discounts and the sale of petroleum products at a price different from that fixed under the terms of the regulation, warning that the practice constitutes an infraction under the terms of the regulation on petroleum products.
