The province of Inhambane, located in the south of Mozambique, could start exporting cashew nuts to the Chinese market next year, under the market liberalization recently announced by the Chinese authorities.
According to official information gathered on Monday during the Provincial Cashew Forum, which took place in the city of Maxixe, Inhambane will be able to export 1,500 tons of chestnuts from next year under the opening of the Chinese market.
China joins Vietnam as the countries with an open market for chestnuts from Inhambane province.
According to a Terra MagazineIn Inhambane province, cashew production involves around 200,000 people, mainly in the family sector. A balance sheet for the five-year period just ended shows that the province produced a total of 68,925 tons, which represents an increase of 51% compared to the previous year.
