The national soccer team beat their counterparts from Guinea Bissau 2-1 today at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in the second qualifying round match for the African Nations Championship (CAN) 2025.
The Mambas' goals were scored by Ricardo Guimarães (Guima) in the fifth minute and Elias Macamo in the 73rd minute. Meanwhile, the Djurtos had tied the game through Mama Baldé in the 24th minute.
With the win, the team led by Chiquinho Conde now leads Group I in qualifying for CAN-2025. The Mambas now have four points, the same as Mali, with whom they drew 1-1 in their first match in Bamako. Mali beat eSwatini by a goal to nil.
In October, the Mambas will play a double-header against the eSwatini team.
