The Mozambican left defender, Reinildo Mandava, signed a work contract with Atlético Madrid, this Tuesday, for three and a half seasons, that is, until 2025. The deal cost 217,950,000 meticais (3 million euros) to the rojiblancos.
The club, in a statement, refers to the hiring of the 28-year-old full-back, after two full seasons and two 'halves' at the service of Lille. The deal was closed on the last day of the winter transfer market.
"We have incorporated in our team a footballer with great power, capable of going all over the left wing and who is very difficult to overcome thanks to his physique. In addition, he is good in the head thanks to his ability to jump, which guarantees him to be safe in the air in the defense and a danger in the offensive set piece. This way, a player with proven experience in Europe comes to our club," stated the club.
Reinildo Mandava was voted best full-back of Ligue 1 2021/2, at the service of French champions Lille.
The left-back was one of Lille's best highlights in winning the last Ligue 1 championship and has become a common target for different clubs, especially since he is at the end of his contract.
Reinildo will compete for the starting position with Renan Lodi, who is not at his best with Atlético Madrid. He is a player with more defensive aptitude than Lodi and also more physical capacity.
Born in the city of Beira, in Sofala province, and currently aged 28, Mandava began his career at the local Ferroviário, and played for some renowned Portuguese clubs.
