António Muchanga says SERNIC is not in a position to investigate Azagaia's death

António Muchanga diz que SERNIC não está em condições de investigar morte do Azagaia

Renamo MP António Muchanga has said that the National Criminal Investigation Service is not in a position to investigate the death of activist and musician Azagaia.

The information comes after the newspaper Dossier & Factos reported that the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) was interested in investigating the death of Azagaia, who lost his life to illness on March 9 this year.

"I don't know if they're going to exhume Azagaia, because there are things that could have been done right after he lost his life, I don't know if they managed to take the necessary material, because also as far as I know SERNIC alone is not in a position to investigate Azagaia's death, unless it's using gossip, to then produce some report that will probably put Azagaia's family in question," said Muchanga, quoted by Moz Massoko.

The resident commentator on the program Awakening the Debate also said that SERNIC is about to go and cut up pieces of Azagaia, simulating that it is carrying out an investigative operation.

"Digging up the body of a dead person is done when they're teaching body exhumation, and they usually do that with lost bodies, so SERNIC must respect the dignity of Azagaia's family," Muchanga said.

However, the news of the supposed interest in investigating Azagaia's death took many Mozambicans by surprise, because in life the Mozambican authorities did not have good relations with the musician Edson da Luz, because of the content of his songs.

In fact, during the rapper's funeral procession, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) prohibited the caravan accompanying the procession from using the road that leads to the presidency of the Republic, and even fired tear gas at family members, fans and admirers.
