"Business environment in Mozambique and the region remains stable"

“Ambiente de negócios em Moçambique e na região continua estável”

The President of the Republic and President-in-Office of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Filipe Nyusi, said on Tuesday that the business environment in Mozambique and in most member states of the regional bloc, remains stable.

Filipe Nyusi was speaking at a high-level virtual panel at the opening session of the 13th United States-America-Africa Business Summit.

"The business environment in Mozambique, and in most SADC member states, remains stable. We have registered progress in the business environment with respect to the debureaucratization of company registration processes, foreign trade transitions, the central credit registry in the financial sector, the review of commercial and labor legislation that sometimes hinders, blocks, and strands business, the reduction of waiting times for electricity connection, among other bureaucratic aspects. Our focus continues to be the platform for dialogue between the public and private sector that results in resolutions or viable solutions, for the benefit of the country," he said.

The 13th Business Summit, which began Tuesday and ends Thursday, is being held under the theme "New Pathways to a Stronger U.S.-Africa Economic Partnership."
