American singer, songwriter and actress Tina Turner died this Wednesday at the age of 83 from an illness. The greatest icon of rock'n'roll music lost her life at her home in Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland, according to the singer's press office.

The statement announcing his death said that "the world has lost a musical legend and a role model".

What you may not have known is that Tina Turner was the first black singer to fill soccer stadiums with music concerts all over the world. In 1988, during the Break Every Rule world tour, she set a record for the largest paid audience ever for a concert - 180,000 people at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Two years later, the Foreign Affair European tour became the most watched ever in Europe.

Turner's distinctive raspy voice, boundless energy and dynamic stage presence captivated audiences all over the world, solidifying her status as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll".

Recognized for her electrifying voice, she is considered by many to be the most vibrant singer in the history of music. The American singer, songwriter and actress has become an icon, having sold more than 180 million records. Between 1974 and 1999 she released 10 solo albums.

Throughout his career, Turner has received eight Grammy awards, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Turner is preceded in death by her two sons, Craig, who died in 2018, and Ronnie, in 2022.
