Mozambique will have an energy producing center that will contribute to the stability and security of the national electric system, with the construction of the Temane Thermal Power Plant, based on natural gas.
Agreements to this effect are signed today, Monday, between the oil company Sasol, ENH and the company Electricidade de Moçambique.
The agreements are the result of the Final Investment Decision announced last February by the petrochemical company Sasol, under the Production Sharing Contract, and will enable the construction of the Temane Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant, the Temane-Maputo Transmission Line and a light oil and LPG processing unit.
The two infrastructures (Temane Thermal Power Plant and the Temane Transmission Line) will ensure generation availability to meet the growing demand for energy that our country is facing, as a result of the ambitious national electrification program "Energy for All", which aims to guarantee universal energy access to all Mozambicans by 2030.
The construction of the natural gas-fired Temane Thermal Power Plant is a Project that will significantly increase energy production capacity, at a very competitive price for the country and the region.
This project also includes the construction of the Transmission Line between Temane and Maputo, an essential part of the country's energy transportation backbone.
This plant will create privileged conditions for the attraction and establishment of new industries and businesses in the provinces near its location, namely, Inhambane and Gaza, where new productive units in the agro-processing, tourism, and heavy sands exploration areas stand out.
