Vale reaches a record million tons of coal in October

Production from the Moatize coal mine exceeded 1 million tons last October, a significant result that had not been achieved for more than three years.

Thus, October was marked by a strong operational performance of the mining activity with production exceeding, in one month alone, more than 1 million tons of metallurgical and thermal coal processed.

Leonardo Xerinda, executive manager of the Mine Operation, referred that "this is the result of the commitment of the teams and the work to revitalize the plants". For Xerinda, operational safety was a decisive element and "it is important to guarantee that we are operating in a safe way and that each one excels in his or her field.

Xerinda also stressed that the effort and investment undertaken to reach the 1 million tons milestone reinforces the commitment to maintain a competitive operation and guarantee the operational continuity of the coal industry in Mozambique.

In line with its strategic pillar of the New Partnership Pact and as it seeks to conduct a responsible process for identifying stakeholders in the coal business, Vale will maintain all of its commitments to society and the stakeholdersincluding obligations to employees and communities.
