Ressano Garcia transit terminal to start operating in March

Terminal de trânsito de Ressano Garcia em funcionamento a partir de Março

By the end of next March the Ressano Garcia transit cargo terminal, in the Moamba district of Maputo province, will be fully operational.

It is an infrastructure designed for the transshipment of coal, magnetite, and other minerals from trucks to railroads.

One of the objectives of this dry port is to decongest the national road number four that leads the entry and exit of different minerals through the border of Ressano Garcia.

In recent times, this highway has experienced long lines of trucks and floods at the service stations, due to the system in use that has some inefficiency.

The National Director of Logistics and Development of the Private Sector and Transport Ambrósio Sitoe, cited by Radio Mozambique said that with the full operation of the dry port of Ressano Garcia the situation of long lines of trucks on the N4 will be reduced.

Ambrósio Sitoe was speaking on Friday, at the end of a visit to the commercial border at the Ressano Garcia crossing point, to assess the level of service with the introduction of the new electronic system at that crossing point.
