Tropical Storm DUMAKO could enter the Mozambique Channel today

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) forecasts that tropical storm DUMAKO, formed in the Indian Ocean, will hit the Mozambique Channel today, Wednesday.

The fourth low atmospheric pressure system, which evolved into moderate tropical storm DUMAKO at 08:00 on Tuesday, was located approximately 90 kilometers off the east coast of Madagascar, with maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 95 kilometers per hour.

This system may reach the provinces of Nampula, Zambezia and Sofala, with the occurrence of heavy rains, locally very strong, more than 100 millimeters in 24 hours, accompanied by severe thunderstorms and winds with strong gusts, ranging between 60 and 80 kilometers per hour, with the potential to approach the coast of our country on February 17, 2022.
