Eurozone inflation rate accelerates to 8.9% in July

The inflation rate accelerated to 8.9% in the euro zone in July, up from 8.6% in June, according to data released by the European Union (EU) statistics office, Eurostat, this Friday.

The inflation rate in the euro zone and the EU has been accelerating since June 2021, driven by rising energy prices, and reaching record highs since November.

Last week, remember, Eurostat, cited by Lusa, confirmed that year-on-year inflation advanced in June to 8.61 PT2T in the euro zone, compared to 8.11 PT2T in May this year, and to 1.91 PT2T in June 2021, while in the European Union it reached 9.61 PT2T.
