Renamo ended all aspirations for Venâncio Mondlane to run for party president with the approval of the candidate's profile at the party's National Council in the early hours of Monday morning (15).

According to the document approved by the members of Renamo's political commission, among other things, to be president of the party you must have been a militant for 15 years or more and without interruption. In addition, according to the newspaper "The Country", he must have held some important position, such as being a member of the National Council, in addition to never having shown any indiscipline.

In the same publication, the party's spokesman, José Manteigas, said that the definition of this profile was not adopted to remove Venâncio Mondlane from the race for the presidency of Renamo, as it was presented at the sixth National Council.

In general, the meeting also served to seal the days of May 15 and 16 for the National Congress, to be held in Zambezia province.
