The United Kingdom's Minister for Investment, Gerry Grimstone, on Wednesday expressed his country's willingness to help Mozambique in the development of clean energy, announced in a statement the British High Commission in Maputo.
Grimstone conveyed his country's commitment during a meeting in London with Mozambique's Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Max Tonela.
"Lord Grimstone reaffirmed to Minister Max Tonela the UK Government's firm commitment to work with the Government of Mozambique on its vision for accelerating the energy transition," the press release states.
The UK, the statement continues, wants to share with its African partner knowledge and capabilities in renewable energy, green finance, energy storage, wind energy and technical assistance.
"Mozambique's transition to stable energy sources will enable the gradual integration of renewable energy sources in the country, such as wind power and solar power, into the national energy grid," the UK Minister for Development said, quoted in the statement.
The British leader pointed out that the Mozambican government's bet on clean energy will allow more families to have access to electric energy and abandon the use of firewood and coal as energy sources, saving the forests from the unbridled cutting of trees.
