Quelimane: STAE annuls MMV tender for political interference

The Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) has ordered the annulment of the public tender for the curricular evaluation of national and provincial Voting Table Member (MMV) trainers in the district of Quelimane, Zambezia province.

In the order annulling the open competition, the STAE explains that this is due to a complaint and repudiation addressed to the body about the display of agendas full of names of candidates from a political party.

According to The CountryThe complaint was lodged about two weeks ago by the Renamo party, claiming that 154 of the votes counted were on a list from the Frelimo party, which constituted an electoral offense. At the time, the director of the provincial STAE claimed that Renamo's complaint was unfounded.

He explains that the measure is aimed at safeguarding the principle of transparency in administrative acts.

The STAE order, issued on Wednesday, determines "the nullity of the administrative acts inherent in the public tender for the curricular evaluation of vacancies for provincial MMV trainers - polling station staff; and the selection of national trainers and STAE technicians from Zambézia province and other provinces for the training of polling station staff in the Quelimane district".
