The independent candidate for President of the Republic of Mozambique, Venâncio Mondlane, is believed to be the winner of the nationwide vote on October 9, thanks to a parallel vote count.
"Yesterday we showed our parallel counting center. We're at about 25% of processing and, of this, up to this moment, we have a voting trend of 65% for Venâncio Mondlane and 60% for the Podemos party," he said.
He was speaking during a broadcast on his social media page where he presented an assessment of the work in progress.
"This clearly means that, as far as has been counted, at the moment I, Venâncio Mondlane, am the preferred and fair winner for the Presidency of the Republic of Mozambique and Podemos is the party with a parliamentary majority," he concluded.
However, according to him, the parallel vote counting center had only processed just over 20% of the total number of polling stations set up in the country.
It is worth remembering that his representative, Elvino Dias, announced that the candidate supported by the Podemos party, when he was in Maputo, could evaluate more sophisticated mechanisms for counting votes in parallel, in real time.
